Baked Feta with Honey and Sesame Seeds is one of my go-to appetiser recipes when I need something fast, yet it always looks and tastes like I put in more effort.

Equipment

  • 1 kitchen scale
  • 1 measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 7 oz block of feta cheese (200 grams)
  • ½ tablespoon good quality olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • ¼ teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place the feta in a small baking dish.
  • Brush with a little olive oil. If you’d like an easier cleanup, line the dish with parchment paper.
  • Lightly brush with a little olive oil for a bit more richness and browning.
  • Drizzle with honey so the top and sides are coated. Sprinkle sesame seeds and chiulli flakes evenly on top. They’ll stick to the honey and form a crust.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes until the cheese is soft but still holds its shape.
  • Serve warm right out of the dish, with bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • Pick the right dish: Use a snug dish so the honey stays close to the feta instead of spreading out too much.
  • Watch the time: Overbaking can dry the cheese. Pull it out when it’s warm and soft, not collapsed.
  • Toast the sesame seeds first: If you want extra flavor, lightly toast them in a dry pan before sprinkling on the feta.
  • Add honey at the end too: A second drizzle after baking gives a nice glossy finish.
  • You can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • To reheat the leftovers, warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes until soft again. You can also use a microwave for a quick option, but the texture may not be as nice.
